AVEBURY - JULY 2009

On this decidedly un-blustery Shmas-eve (we don't celebrate christmas 'round here) my thoughts take me back to the Somerset and the Wiltshire Dales - so have a jolly, and enjoy a pictorial journey through the thinnest part of the veil.

Hard to tell but this is actually fucking huge - consider: the stones at Avebury were put there on purpose. It's not like people had a shit ton of free time either - eating was still a full time job, although at this point people were beginning to taste so-called "leisure time."

Obviously I didn't take this picture but this was there while we were. The oval towards the top of the picture is the long barrow, the other crop circle being to the immediate right of the picture. This circle was (remarkably) totally concealed even when standing on top of the barrow.

The Wiltshire Crop Circle Study Group is one of the best crop circle websites I've found. No wonder - they have as many as 30+ circles a month in the spring and summer in the dales alone!
